Permanent secretary for justice Charnchao Chaiyanukij has been transferred to an inactive post as special inspector-general at the Prime Minister’s OfficeThe cabinet approved his transfer during its regular meeting on Tuesday. Mr Charnchao recently said during a media interview that the ministry was cash strapped and had to lay off 2,000 employees working under temporary contracts. Col Piyawat accused Mr Tarit and Mr Chanchao of malfeasance in unfairly transferring him to a special post, a lower position, under Section 157 of the Criminal Code. This happened between March 30 and Oct 8, 2012, while Mr Tarit was director-general of the DSI and Mr Chanchao was deputy permanent secretary for justice. Justice Minister Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana said the cabinet resolved to transfer Mr Charnchao to the Prime Minister’s Office to assist with police and judicial procedure reforms.
